What size hydraulic pump do I need?
The right hydraulic pump size depends on the required flow rate, pressure, cycle speed, and application. Proper sizing helps support performance and reduce unnecessary heat or wear.

When should I use a hydraulic pump with or without a reservoir?

  • A hydraulic pump with a reservoir is typically used when the system needs a dedicated supply of hydraulic fluid for its full operating cycle.
  • A pump without a reservoir may be used when the system already has a separate fluid source or when space, weight, or system layout needs to be considered.

Does this hydraulic pump come filled with hydraulic oil?
Most Star Hydraulics units do not ship with hydraulic oil unless it is requested. Lift jacks are the exception and include hydraulic oil as standard. Star Hydraulics also sells standard hydraulic oil under part number SFM-HV-15.

What seal options does Star Hydraulics offer?
